This study investigates Information Privacy Awareness (IPA) and Personal Information Management (PIM), focusing on Indonesian students in Türkiye, using an explanatory sequential, mixed-methods design. Survey was collected using a validated scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation test among 136 students. Interview data were used to contextualize the survey findings, including a comparison between individuals with higher and lower levels of IPA. Students reported a high overall level of privacy awareness, although the dimensions were unevenly developed. By integrating survey and interview evidence, the study showed that privacy awareness is associated with, but does not determine, consistent personal information management practice in the transnational academic context. Students were more proficient in basic protective behaviors than in technically demanding practices such as encryption and cookie management. Higher awareness group was associated with broader protective strategies, whereas lower awareness group was marked by reactive, convenience-oriented practices. Educational interventions may therefore need to move beyond awareness-raising initiatives toward the cultivation of applied competencies in secure file management, encryption, access control, and systematic personal information organization.
