Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) should be focused as it is important to enable students to compete globally. Therefore, teachers should play a role in applying the Higher Order Thinking Skills through teaching and learning activities that encourage students to think. This study aims to investigate the extent of readiness of the history teachers in the state of Perak in the implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills in teaching and to evaluate their attitudes towards the implementation. This study employs a quantitative approach involving 143 samples consisting of all trained teachers teaching History subjects at national secondary schools in the district of Kinta Utara, Perak. Questionnaire was used as the research instrument. The findings show that the level of readiness of the History teachers on Higher Order Thinking Skills in teaching is moderate and that their attitude toward the implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills in teaching is positive.
